How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty!
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. — Psalm 84:1-4
We are pilgrims on a journey, seeking to return to the courts of our Lord. As we traverse this earthly path, we take delight in the company of our fellow journeymen, called by our Lord to a life of service to each other.
We are a community of Catholic musicians spread across various parishes in Singapore, driven by a shared mission: Freely available choral resources for use in the church liturgy.
When we started serving in our various church choirs many years ago, we constantly struggled to find music resources for responsorial psalms which are easily sung in masses, and we also quickly realized that very few can sing a chant well. Faced with this challenge, we decided to compose music for the responsorial psalms with easy, melodic tunes to help the cantors engage the congregation and lead them into active participation.
We started with composing original musical settings for the responsorial psalms. Since then, compositions have been written for songs, hymns and even mass ordinaries. As we continue to exercise our music ministry, Pilgrim People will serve as a living record for our journey of service in music.
Whoever you are and wherever you are on life’s journey, we hope you find inspiration and comfort in these music that we share here with you.
