ON THIS ROCK

by Evelyn Lee

Verse 1:
“You are Peter, and on this rock I build my church,
which the pow’rs of hell cannot destroy.
All you bind or loose on earth will be so above.
On this rock, my kingdom built on love.”

Verse 2:
Lord of wisdom, you are the precious cornerstone;
once rejected, now you claim your throne.
In your temple we rejoice, and lift up our praise;
On this rock, your kingdom built on grace.

Verse 3:
On the altar, we offer up our sacrifice,
and we ask you for the strength of Christ;
though unworthy, we are called to be one with you.
On this rock, we know our faith is true.

Verse 4:
Out of darkness, you led your people to the light,
out of blindness, gifted us with sight;
and your word keeps us alive, in our earthly strife.
On this rock, of everlasting life.

Verse 5:
By your Spirit, unite us in one holy bond,
built upon this rock of faith so strong.
From all nations, race and tribes, all divisions cease;
On this rock, your church will reign in peace.
